Carbon Black Administrator - SME

Gray Tier Technologies is looking for a Carbon Black Administrator – Subject Matter Expert (SME) that will plan, analyze, implement, and maintain security infrastructure for information systems leveraging the Carbon Black technology suite.

Carbon Black Endpoint Security is an effective and user-friendly endpoint solution for user devices such workstations. It features malware protection that keeps threats at bay while protecting a customers’ network and computer systems from hackers and viruses.
As a subject matter expert, the Carbon Black Administrator will lead the program initiatives including design and implementation of cyber tools/solutions, platform upgrades and enhancements, defect resolution, and project coordination. The focus will be on security operation center tools, log and event management, vulnerability scanning and management, secure configuration management, network security, and cybersecurity architectural support. Prior large agency security architecture experience and an ability to understand the unique security challenges facing the industry is highly preferred.

The Carbon Black Administrator will have the following responsibilities:

• Be able to design, implement, maintain, and upgrade the Carbon Black implementation on information systems, to include cloud and on-premises servers with future growth in mind to ensure a balance between scalability, performance, stability, reliability, and agility
• Responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's endpoint security solutions based on Carbon Black products. This role involves configuring, monitoring, and optimizing endpoint security tools to protect the organization's systems and data from cyber threats
• Deployment and configuration of Carbon Black solutions for endpoint protection, threat detection, and response
• Gather requirements, plan, propose, and execute deployment tasks to successful closure
• Creating and managing policies for malware detection, prevention, and remediation
• Provide defense in-depth gap analysis and improvement recommendations of the security architecture and posture of the infrastructure and environment
• Provide support in monitoring endpoint security events and alerts to identify potential security incidents
• Performing regular updates and patches to ensure the effectiveness of Carbon Black products
• Lead system analysis, configuration, and integration with other security tools and platforms
• Develop and implement secure configurations standards
• Monitor system updates and plan, review, and execute patch/upgrade deployments of the technologies
• Analyze system operational requirements and define, design, develop, and maintain/improve performance monitoring dashboards, alerts, and reports etc.
• Provide production and infrastructure break-fix support, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, health monitoring, etc.
• Define, develop, implement, and improve processes and procedures for to support and maintain each technology

Minimum Education and Required Experience


• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or additional four [4] years of related experience in lieu of degree) required
• Carbon Black administration experience (cloud and on-premises)
• VMware certification (e.g., VMware Carbon Black Cloud Professional, VMware Certified Professional)
• The candidate must have information security experience
• Experience in implementation, administration, configuration, and maintenance of Carbon Black in a large enterprise environment
• Knowledge of federal information security policies, standards, procedures, directives, and risk management processes.
• Proven ability to work on and with teams comprised of the primary client and other client stakeholders dispersed across geographical sites.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to work well independently or in a team setting

IRS Minimum Background Investigation:

• Must meet requirements to obtain and maintain an IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) clearance. Candidates must be a US Citizen or a legal Permanent Resident that has lived at least 3 years in the U.S. and be Federal Tax compliant.
